Some of the best ethiopian i've had! So fresh, tasty and the lady that works here is so sweet!
Excellent choice for those that prefer vegan gluten free! There are a lot of restaurants in this area but this is the place for VGF food. Very fresh and tasty. The staff are friendly, upbeat and welcoming. Recommended for everyone. What a gem!
Conveniently located on Telegraph and owned by friendly people. A nice place for grabbing lunch. There isn't any indoor seating, and the outdoor tables are quite small so it's definitely a place to dine solo or with one other person. Full plate was a decent size, half order would've been too small in my opinion. The food here isn't as expensive as other Oakland Ethiopian spots and it's pretty good. Cheesecake wasn't the best though, it was reminiscent of daiya cheesecake and I'm just not into that flavor. I love that they sell various other goodies here like bulk ingredients, spices, grains, teacups, pans, etc.
I've been to Cafe Dareye twice and the food is consistently delicious. The full platter is enough to satiate my big appetite but realistically may be enough to feed 2 (depending how hungry you are). It's a small mom and pop type shop that also sells other Ethiopian items such as a badge, other pastries and various spices, herbs, teas and even cookware. Each time I was there service was friendly and prompt. The full veggie platter is 12. Enjoy!!
Pro tip: The afternoon sun hits the outdoor seating nicely
Soul-satisfying, healthy, delicious food and kind service. Their veggie combo platter is affordable, hearty and consistently delicious. Parking can be a challenge in this area, just as a warning. You wouldn't know by walking by what an amazing meal is served here....the counter is in the back and the storefront is filled with Ethiopian dry goods and cooking wares. It's a gem of a find!
This is the best Ethiopian veggie combo in town! I been coming for 2 years and the taste is always the same! D-E-LI-CI-OUS!! It’s all vegan and the bread is gluten free!(unbelievable for the taste) the staff is nice! Is a lovely family business. I tried several others places and I can tell never like here.
Veggie combo was extremely filling (approximately same size as 1.5 chipotle bowls)! Good value and taste. The woman behind the counter was very kind, and she cooked the meal in 10 minutes. There's also shelves filled with spices, bowls, and other cool things to look at and buy! Highly recommend this place and Abyssinian market across the street if you're in the area.
